Artist Statement
This exhibition features a theatrical trailer and character design sheets revolving around the world of my original story: Company Phantasmagoria. This combined work is a conceptual project for a Visual-Novel video game, focusing on character interaction, immersive settings, and viewer interaction. In addition, I was able to further the immersion of this project by hiring voice actors and a music composer.
My inspiration stems from early filmmaking and the idea of historical settings with modern connections. This story is set in the Edwardian England era and deals with subjects such as community, social deviance, and unity through art. Some artistic influences include the Art Nouveau movement and modern Japanese Visual-Novel style video games, particularly The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles.
My artistic voice focuses on refined line art, harmonious colors, and textured rendering. Character dynamics and characterization of their spaces are constantly on my mind, and any personality Iām designing simply has to be larger than life: both in the visual and the contextual. I hope that through my work people can find not only joy and whimsy, but also an impactful reflection of their own personal experiences.
